For the 4th of July, we had a BBQ at my in-laws house. Makadie loved running around with her cousins and everyone loved meeting Trey. This year, we decided to let Makadie stay up to watch the fireworks. To prep her for all the loud noises, we set off a couple of fireworks the day before. We knew that our neighbors would be doing some and we could also see the ones that went off at the Stadium of Fire. Covey found this awesome half-tent at Costco that he set up in the front yard. He put pillows and blankets inside and made it all cozy. Then he brought his computer outside and he and Makadie watched youtube videos until in got dark enough for the fireworks. Every time a firework went off, Makadie would hide behind Covey or I and peek around us to watch it. I could tell she liked them, but she just wanted a little buffer between her and the fireworks. :)
We also celebrated my nephew Jackson's 1st birthday. My sister did a little Elmo themed party and invited family and close friends. I helped make a little smash cake for him. Everything turned out really cute! By the end of the party, Jackson was definitely ready for bed after all the excitement (and sugar) he'd had that day.
We had lots of days playing in the water in the backyard. Dani and Jackson came over sometimes and we also had a couple of neighborhood friends come over.
One day while we were out in the backyard, Makadie came running over to me crying. I asked her what was wrong and she just kept saying "a bee, a bee" and holding her hand. When she got over to where I was I looked at her hand and sure enough, she had been stung by a wasp. I tried to keep her calm and she did pretty well. Thankfully I had some Redmond Clay, which I had been told could help take the pain away with stings, so I mixed it into a paste with some water and gooped it all over Makadie's hand. She was really good throughout the whole process and I gave her a couple of popsicles as a reward and to take her mind off of it. The next day, you could still see where she'd been stung, but the swelling had pretty much all gone down and within a few more days she was fine.
We celebrated the 24th of July with a BBQ at my mom and step-dad's house.
Trey had his first taste of rice cereal towards the end of the month. He wasn't so sure about it, but he gradually at a little more each day. I switched over to oatmeal cereal though because the rice was stopping him up. He liked the oatmeal much better, so it was a win-win.
We went to the Bean Museum at BYU for FHE and looked at the animals. The last time I had been to the museum, it was in the original building and it was all just really old. However, they built an addition on since then and added quite a few interesting exhibits and animals.
One thing that I love about Makadie, but also can be frustrating, is that she loves to be right in the middle of everything. If it looks like I'm making food, there's Makadie pushing a chair over so she can watch. Or, if I'm mowing the lawn, guess who wants to help me do that too? She is so curious and she is very smart.

You forgot to write about going to swimming lessons for 2 weeks!
You're right! I totally spaced that. I've been trying to get all caught up on all my blog entries that I've probably forgotten a few other things too...
