Alright, gang, the blog catch-up continues!
August consisted of a lot of random playing and enjoying the sunshine. We went to the local splash pad with friends a couple of times and let the kiddos play. I gotta say that trying to take Trey and keep track of Makadie at the same time was tricky!
We also decided to go hiking to The Grotto in Payson Canyon. It was a fairly short hike so we figured Makadie would like it and we could just carry Trey in a baby carrier. We had fun taking pictures and just enjoying the outdoors. Once we got to the little waterfall at the end of the hike, of course Makadie splashed around in the puddles and got wet. I mentally berated myself for not bringing her water shoes when the thought came to me early, but she didn't seem to mind the water sloshing around in her shoes.
Afterwards, we went to a place in Springville where some foodtrucks were and decided to grab some food. They had music playing and chalk for the kids to draw with. We met up with some friends of ours in the neighborhood that have kids almost exactly the same age as Makadie and Trey.
About half way through the month, we had our ward pool party at the Spanish Fork pool. This was the first time that Trey had been to an actual pool all summer and I wondered how he would like it. He was pretty happy to be in the shallow part of the pool for part of the time. The rest of the time, Covey took Makadie and played with her. They even went down the water slide together!
Towards the end of the month, I invited a couple of Makadie's little friends over to do a cupcake play date. Only one of the friends could make it: a little boy named Reece who lives across the street. He and Makadie love to play together and chase each other around the yard (a sign of things to come perhaps...?). I am also friends with his mom. They had lots of fun decorating their cupcakes, but even more fun eating them!
Trey turned 5 months old in August. He had his first tooth poke through, which surprised me a little since Makadie's first tooth didn't come in until she was 7 months and I was hoping it would be similar for him. But just like Makadie, he didn't handle teething very well. He got a little bit of a fever, pulled on his ears and his sleep was disrupted. Poor boy. :( However, Trey's little personality started coming out even more around this time. He is truly a happy baby, full of smiles and laughter.
Sunday of the Exploding Diaper. That was fun.
Already starting to bust out of his 3-6 month clothes at 5 months!
Here are a few other things that happened during the month:
Makadie loved to have Trey lay down next to her in bed when she was getting ready for her nap or bedtime. She'd snuggle right up next to him and try to cover him up with a blanket (which he promptly kicked off).
Warm summer rain storm
This crazy girl looked at me one day and crossed her eyes! I have no idea where she learned how to do it, but it cracks me up every time because this is the face she pulls each time she does it.
Makadie thought it was so fun to have Trey ride on her back as she pretended to be a horse.
"Hey, good lookin'!"
"Look mommy, I'm a turtle!"
Discovering a love of PB and J's
Trey was not amused...
Dancing with brother
We got a princess potty to see if by having it out, we might be able to encourage Makadie to use it. She actually sat on it a few times a day for a few days in a row but then she decided she didn't want to anymore, so that was that...
Prior to Trey's first haircut. This boy had a lot of hair! I was kind of sad to cut it, but it was getting a little out of control.
My handsome little buddy
