September was a lot of fun and the weather was beautiful, which made it even better!
For Labor Day, we decided it would be fun to go to the Luau at they do every year at Thanksgiving Point. I went once about 10 years ago and remembered that it was fun. When we got there, the line was huge! We had to wait for 45 minutes before we even got in the door to give them our tickets. Then it was another 10 minute walk from there to the amphitheater where they had more lines for food. Finally, we found a spot to sit down and it actually worked out well for us because there weren't too many people around so Makadie could kind of wander a bit without getting in the way of others. The food was mediocre but the entertainment was a lot of fun. Makadie definitely enjoyed it and it was fun to see her dance around and get excited. It was late by the time we left and Trey fell asleep in the stroller on the way back to the car. Makadie was a stinker and just sat there with her eyes open the whole ride home, but of course fell right to sleep once we got home. :)
I think I mentioned in my post from June that we started working on getting the basement finished. By September, we were at the point where we needed to put the bathtub and shower walls in. The box the tub came in was perfect for a princess castle/fort for Makadie. I'm not sure if Covey or Makadie was more excited. ;) We kept it up for a couple weeks, but it just started to get in the way so we had to take it apart. It was fun while it lasted.
We enjoyed going on walks at different times of the day, but it seemed like no matter when it was, there were always TONS of mosquitoes. Even with bug repellant, we all got bit at least once. Forget about going outside past 6pm, that's for sure. Poor Makadie must have the sweetest blood of all of us, because she always got the worst of it. We had some liquid benadryl that we put on her bites throughout the day and there were even a few nights we had to give her benadryl just so she could sleep. At one point, I counted 11 bandaids on her arms and legs. That seemed to be the best way to stop her from itching them. It didn't hurt that they were all either princess or Strawberry Shortcake bandaids. :)
All smiles!
I had been begging Covey for a couple months to redecorate our bedroom and he finally told me I could do it. We'd had the same bedding, curtains, pillows and decor since we'd been married--6 years--and I was so tired of it I wanted to puke. Okay, maybe that's a little extreme, but I seriously hated it. During the time I was trying to convince Covey to let me redecorate, I'd been looking online and trying to decide what color scheme to go with. I finally decided on grey, white, mint and yellow. Bright and happy. I even found the perfect pillows one day while I was browsing so I bought them in hopes that it might persuade Covey to let me redecorate. ;) I even started looking at duvet covers online and had one picked out. So once I got the go ahead, I was ready. I ordered the duvet and it couldn't get here fast enough. Covey even surprised me with some new sheets that would match. I put everything on hold when the duvet came and redecorated my room that day. It was so refreshing! Even now when I walk in, I love it so much. I'm happy. :)

Since Covey and I celebrate our birthday in the same month and only 10 days apart, we usually end up combining it for family celebrations. This year, we went with my dad and step-mom to a place in Orem called Savory and Sweet. It is a crepe place that had amazing reviews so we figured we'd give it a try. Seriously one of the best decisions ever! The food was absolutely amazing and a great way to celebrate.
For my birthday, Covey gave me a really fun and thoughtful gift. Since I turned 29, he gave me 29 of various things: $29 dollars to spend on whatever I wanted, 29 red balloons, 29 red roses and 29 things he was going to do for me for 29 days (do the dishes, foot/back massage every night, etc). I was really surprised by the gift and loved it!
Our little Trey man turned 6 months in September! It's hard to believe how fast time flies, especially the first year of your baby's life. I always tell my parents, "Now I know what you mean when you say it seems like just yesterday that I was so little." Trey had his 6 month check up and shots. His head measured 43 cm (50 percentile), he was 28" tall (95 percentile) and weighed 17 lbs (30 percentile). So we have a tall, skinny kid. No idea where he gets it from... ;)
Here are some other things from the month:
Makadie's "rocketship"
We had two of these huge garden spiders that had built webs on my tomato plants. While they were a little creepy looking, my plants did great and there were no bugs on them.
10 points if you can find Makadie...
Helping dad in the yard. Whenever she's helping Covey, she insists on wearing his work gloves. It's cute. :)
