All of a sudden, it was April, and the weather started to warm up quite nicely. I tried to get outside as much as possible so we didn't get too stir crazy but feeling like I wanted to do much was hard when I was waking up 3 times a night and no naps. Thankfully, Makadie is very forgiving and was just happy to go outside. It made me especially grateful for our fenced in yard so she could go outside if she wanted to without me being worried she'd get into too much trouble.
I found out about an Easter Egg hunt that was being put on by a local real estate company at Bicentennial Park in Provo. It was all free, which was even more awesome. They had free hot dogs and drinks, cotton candy, face painting and of course, the Easter egg hunt. We met up with my sister, Dani, and her husband and little boy. Makadie had so much fun running around the park. She especially loved getting the eggs. They did it so that the youngest kids got to pick up eggs first--just 3 or 4--and then moved up in age so that the little kids didn't get trampled. The minute they blew the whistle Makadie booked it out there so fast! She and Covey came back to the side within about 30 seconds. It was so funny to watch her. Trey slept the entire time and was just sweet as could be.
After the park, we came home and made bird nest cookies. Makadie helped me put the "eggs" in the nest. Covey and Trey chilled together on the couch.
The next day was Easter. We got Makadie a new dress, play-doh, stamps, bath crayons and some little pictures of Jesus to keep in her church bag. Then we let her do an Easter egg hunt in our backyard. I didn't hide the eggs, just put them on the ground mostly. She had a blast picking them up. She wanted to open each one when she picked it up and see what was inside before moving on to the next one. Then we went to church.
Most days, Makadie would ask if she could hold Trey. When I said yes, she would run over to the couch and wedge herself in the corner and I'd put Trey on her lap. She always got the biggest grin on her face and she would talk to him and give him kisses. Totally melted my heart! Of course, I had to be ready to take him when she decided she was done holding him, because she'd just let go...
I don't really remember too much else of the month besides just trying to adjust to two kids. Makadie did start acting out more and I know it was because of the changes going on. It wasn't easy to be patient with her every day when I was running low on sleep, but I found that the days I tried to spend some one on one time with her, she always did better.
Of course, I tried to take pictures of Trey and Makadie and think I did a pretty good job considering I was a zombie...
