Summer was finally here! I am definitely a summer/warm weather person. I don't like the cold. Makadie is definitely my daughter--she takes after me in loving the outdoors and summer sunshine.
At the beginning of the month, my sister-in-law, Shannon, had her baby boy, who they named Tagg. We went to visit them in the hospital. Trey is 2.5 months older than him and it's amazing how much of a difference that makes. (That and the fact that Trey is kind of a giant compared to other babies his same age. When we took him in for his 2 month appointment, the doctor and nurses all commented on how big he was!)
We also decided it would be fun to get Makadie a little goldfish to take care of. We went to Walmart and picked out two goldfish. One of them died within a couple of days, but he was looking pretty sickly when we brought him home, so I wasn't too surprised. The other one lasted a little longer--about a month--before he died too. When I asked Makadie what her fish's name was, she said, "Tipp". No idea where she got that from, but I was impressed that she actually had a name for him.
We celebrated Father's Day, of course. We went up Diamond Fork in Spanish Fork Canyon because my dad and step-mom were camping with some friends up there for the weekend. We visited them and had a BBQ before heading back home. On Sunday, we went to church and then had some dinner at home. Covey helped Makadie make a movie, which we sent to my dad and Covey's dad. It is pretty cute and they both loved it.
My niece, Sayler, dances with a studio in Orem and every year she has a dance concert at the Covey Art Center in Provo. We decided to go for the first half of it. When we got there, they were playing music and Makadie wanted to get up on the stage and dance so we let her. She was just up there, happy as could be, and shaking her little booty. I think we've got a future dancer on our hands. :)
At the end of the month, the peas we planted in our garden got ripe and Makadie loved to go outside and pick them.
Another day, Makadie helped me make some chocolate pudding pops. The next day, I let her go outside and eat one. I'm so glad I made her eat it outside because, oh boy, what a mess she made! I was all over her face and hands and bib! She thoroughly enjoyed it though, which is what matters.
Also at the end of the month, we went up Hobble Creek for FHE. We took the double stroller and put the kids in it and walked along a trail for a little bit.
And of course, the odds and ends of the month:
Not so sure about this bumbo business...
Some mommy-daughter time while brother took a nap
This boy is so TALL! Only 3 months old and he doesn't even fit on my lap anymore...
Makadie requested her "Super Kadie" mask and cape, spread these pull-ups all over the floor, and then stood on top of them and sang, "...here I stand! And here I'll stay...!"
She said she wasn't tired, but ended up falling asleep on the floor with her little fingers poking out under the door.
During tummy time, Makadie laid down next to Trey, put her arm around him and said, "You're my best friend." I don't know how many times a parent's heart can melt from cuteness, but this was one of those times!
Yes, my daughter is under that mop of hair. I just can't bring myself to cut it! It's so pretty and long.
While trying to get Trey down for a nap, I told Makadie to lay down on my bed. When I looked over, I saw that she had pulled the covers up over her and fallen asleep on my bed. My two sleeping angels...
I love everything about this picture. :)
"Say, what?!"
I love this boy and his big smile
