Good-Bye Money, Hello Yard

We recently finished our yard!  (I use the word 'finished' loosely because we still don't have flowers or trees yet.)  We have gravel off to the side of our driveway, curbing around the future flower beds, sprinklers, a garden area complete with garden boxes and beautiful, beautiful grass!

Covey spent almost every weekday evening, plus every Saturday all day, working on the sprinklers for the last month.  Makadie and I pretty much never saw him except to step outside and say hello.

And when the time finally came to put the grass in, what does the weather decide to do?  Rain for the first time in over a month.  *sigh*  But we got the sod laid the following day with lots of help from friends, family and ward members and it looks amazing!

Sadly, we can't really enjoy it fully for a few weeks until the grass takes root, but every day for the last week I have taken Makadie outside to let her stand on the edge of the grass.  She loves being outside and standing and sitting in the grass!  She gets the biggest grin on her face--it is so darn cute.  It makes all the time Covey spent totally worth it. :)  (I'd like to say all the time 'we' spent, but in truth, I only helped for probably a total of 5-10 hours on the whole yard since I had to take care of Makadie.)  Thank you Covey! :)

Here are some photos of the process:

Way to go Covey! Putting a yard in is no easy job and it looks great! I can totally see you guys out there having a picnic on the nice green grass :)
