Month Six

My baby has been alive for half a year!  It's not possible...Some days I swear she literally changes overnight, it's crazy!  She is learning and growing all the time and it is so much fun to watch her little mind process everything. :)  This is what happened during her sixth month:

  • She slept 10 hours straight!  (Of course, that same week she decided to completely abandon her sleep schedule, but at least we know she can do it.)  We're working towards transitioning to not waking up at all for a feeding at night very soon (which will be lovely for me so I can sleep all the way through the night for the first time since she has been born).
  • Makadie had her first taste of baby food other than oatmeal cereal.  So far she's tried applesauce, sweet potatoes, bananas, pears (her favorite), peaches, green beans and turkey with turkey broth (least favorite by far).
  • She went to her 6 month doctor appointment about a week before her 6 month mark.  He said that she is healthy but would like to see her gain a little more weight.  She is 25 inches long and 13lb 3oz in weight.  She also had more shots this time around but she doesn't have to have anymore until her one year appointment.
  • We celebrated the 4th of July and Makadie got to meet some family she hadn't before.
  • We got grass in our yard!  Makadie loves to be outside and to squish her toes in the grass, but she doesn't like when the grass touches her neck.
  • One of Makadie's favorite things to play with is a silicone baster.  It's pretty funny to watch her with it, as she practically paints her face with slobber. :)

  • Makadie's hair is too long to do the mohawk. :(  It was a sad day when I realized that she wasn't my little mohawk baby anymore.  Now we just part her hair on the side or pull it into a little pigtail on top of her head and she looks so much older.  But still just as cute. :)
  • She still loves to stand up all the time.  She might be one of those babies who just skips crawling, but I hope not cause I think crawling is cute.  She is funny too, because she doesn't necessarily like to be held up around the waist.  She will grab onto my fingers and hold herself up instead.
  • She is getting better at sitting by herself but she's not there yet.
  • Makadie has started to babble to herself when she's in her crib before she goes to sleep and when she wakes up.
  • We gave Makadie a soft little blanket to snuggle with when she goes down for naps and at bedtime.  It is really cute because the second we lay her down, she is reaching for it.
  • She has started to understand the concept of peek-a-boo.  I will put a little blanket over her face and say "Where's Makadie?" and she'll flail her arms around a little then grab onto the blanket and pull it off her face with a big smile as I say "There she is!"  So fun. :)
Here are a few other highlights:

Here's a few pictures of her taken with my new camera:

Look at those cute little pucker up lips! :)

She's so cute! And looking so grown up! I can't believe how fast babies grow. I feel like Lincoln wakes up twice as big as he was when he went to sleep sometimes.

She is darling! Good luck with the sleeping through the night, Olivia didn't until she was almost a year. Something that helped though, is she would go to bed at 8pm and then I would wake her up between 11:30 and midnight to feed her before I went to bed, that way she could make it until morning and I still got my full night of sleep.

Makadie is just adorable! I love the picture with her puckered lips :) Makadie has big beautiful eyes. You can tell in her sweet face that she is going to be very pretty when she grows up :) It's so fun to read all of the fun things she does. It's cute that she likes the baster. Happy 6 months :)
