Month Four

Here is Makadie's 4 month update:
  • I took Makadie in for her 4 month check up and she also got shots.  She did much better than when she got her 2 month shots but I still felt so sad for her when she got them.  She is looking pretty good as far as weight (12lb 4 oz), height (23 3/4") and head circumference (39 cm).
  • We started sleep training at the tail end of her fourth month and let me just say that it is probably one of my least favorite parts of parenting so far.  She has improved in some areas but we are still working on it.
  • I celebrated my first Mother's Day!  Technically I was pregnant last Mother's Day but I didn't know it so this year was the first year to actually have a reason to celebrate it.

  • My sister Dani graduated from BYU and we went to the ceremony.
  • First Time at the Park:  We got together with some friends and spent an hour or so at the park.  Makadie wasn't a huge fan of the sun cause she was still getting used to it.
  • We moved Makadie from the bassinet in our room to the crib in her room.  I'll be honest, I was a little sad to not have her in our room those first few nights, but she was getting too big for her bassinet.  Besides that, it was nice to have our room back to ourselves and I think Makadie liked being in a more quiet place to sleep.
  • Covey has passed on the "eczema gene".  (I don't know that there is actually a gene for eczema, but Covey had it as a kid and it is genetic.)  At first, we thought it was an allergic reaction (which it sort of is) but once we put some oatmeal lotion on her, it cleared up pretty quickly.
  • Makadie started to want to sit up.  We figured this out when she would be holding onto our thumbs and she was trying to pull herself up.  She also started to want to be pulled up into a standing position.
  • Makadie has some serious hatred for having anything stuck in her nose.  This includes fingers and snotsuckers.  The second she realizes you are going for her nose, she rears her head back and twists and wiggles to try and get away.  I'm hoping she grows out of this because it's hard enough to get anything out of her nose while she's not mobile and I can only imagine how it would be if she was bigger and could get away!
Here are a few more photos from her 4 months:

Makadie and Dad

Chillin' in the swing

Snuggling in her hippo blanket

Sitting up on the couch (I realize this picture makes her look huge, but really it's just because the back of our couch is low.)

Tummy time!

And some 4 month shots taken by my friend Kayla:

Dig that crazy mohawk!  I love it!

Don't you just love her skirt?!
