Halloween=Skankiness?

I'm just putting this out there, but why is it that girls think that just because you get to dress up for Halloween means you have to dress like a skank?  This seriously drives me nuts.  I would go so far to say that it is a pet peeve of mine.  I mean, is there something sexy about dressing up like a ladybug with garters?  C'mon people!

I guess I can understand that people want to dress up for Halloween like something other than what they dress like every day, but when you dress like a skank, does that mean that that is what you would dress like if you didn't dress like you do everyday?  Think about it.  I mean, really.  What does that say about you?  You couldn't come up with something more creative than a "sexy witch", or a "sexy firewoman", or a "sexy jellybean"?  No witch, or firewoman or jellybean is going to dress sexy in real life for their job!  Get real!  Use your brain and come up with something at least semi-creative.  Or normal.

What happened to the days when you would dress up like what you wanted to be when you grow up?  Even little kids are jumping on the bandwagon.  They want to dress up like Lady GaGa (skank) or Paris Hilton (slut) or who knows what other supposed "idol" they have.  THAT is their idol?  THAT is what they want to be when they grow up?  And parents let them dress up like that because 'what harm is it going to be if they are only pretending to be that person?'  The harm is that they just may end up dressing like that person when they get a little older because they were allowed to 'dress up' like that person when they were little.

Aristotle said: "We are what we repeatedly do."  Therefore, if every year women dress like skanks for Halloween, eventually, they will probably become a skank.

I will now step off my soapbox.  Thank you for reading.

I HATE when girls dress slutty! Drives me crazy. There was a teen girl at our ward last night who dresses up as "sexy Minnie Mouse" I couldn't believe her parents would let her show up to a church activity in such a SHORT dress. I don't care she had black tights on!
Sexy costumes are ment for...NOT going out ;D

Also...if Ethan dresses up like a Jedi, does that mean he could become one when he is older? I'm pretty sure if I tell him that he would be SO VERY EXCITED :)

haha, Erica. I guess the opposite of the last statement I made could be true as well. :) The last part of what Aristotle says is "Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit." So I guess if Ethan acts like a Jedi, he can become one when he's older. ;)
